The Aspidistra Drawing Room Orchestra is one of a growing unmber of ensembles now specialising in Palm Court repertoire.

The Palm Court Orchestra is celebrated for its sensitive and affectionate performance of light orchestral music, well-crafted melody, and exquisite playing. This music creatively bridges the gap between traditionally serious symphony works and the world of Pops.

Nova Scotia’s Rhapsody Quintet has performed salon music, light classics, theatre music, and chamber music since the mid-80’s, at concerts overlooking the ocean, corporate events, charity fundraisers and dinners for royalty. They arrange and adapt orchestral and piano music to suit their unique instrumentation, (violin, clarinet, cello, piano and double bass), often working with local arrangers. 

If Scarborough is the queen of resorts the Spa Orchestra is a jewel in her crown. The Orchestra has developed out of a rich heritage of seaside entertainment; Scarborough is the last seaside resort in the UK to offer its visitors and residents a professional orchestra. 

Shelley Van Loen and the Palm Court Strings are a talented and versatile group of musicians who have made a unique field of performing their own. They have earned themselves a reputation throughout the UK and are increasingly in demand for events that range from Bafta Awards at the Royal Albert Hall to the lounge of the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne.
