Light Music Festival Weekend
September 10th, 11th & 12th, 2010
Our host town for this year is to be Morecambe. during the weekend of September 10th - 12th.
There are four events scheduled over the weekend, three of them organised by the Light Music Society. These are all at the Platform in Morecambe, which is a superb venue in the old Midland Railway station, directly opposite the sea-front, near the newly refurbished Midland Hotel.
Friday September 10th is scheduled for a regular “Last Night of the Proms” type of event with the Pilling Silver Band and Wendy Sharrock (mezzo soprano) starting at 8 pm. Tickets are £8 and children £4.
On Saturday night the popular Footloose Dance Orchestra will present an evening of English Dance Band classics. You don’t have to be a dancer to enjoy this event. There will be a licensed bar, and seating is at café style tables, so you can listen to the band, watch others dance and enjoy a chat with other enthusiasts in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Tickets for this event are £10.
On Sunday morning at 11am the same venue will host our AGM, and in the evening at 7.30 the finale of the weekend will be our usual concert, with the Light Music Festival Orchestra playing light-orchestral classics for your delight, conducted by LMS Chairman, Gavin Sutherland. The orchestra will be led by Geoffrey Allan
